摘要

In field trials in 1994 and 1995, development of grain in different parts of the ear of hybrid maize was determined. Average grain length was 10.2, 10.0 and 9.5 mm in grains in the lower, middle and upper parts of the ear, respectively, but embryo length was not affected by position. Grain weight was highest in the middle ear and lowest in the upper ear. Daily grain filling rate was highest in the lower ear, but effective filling period was greater in the middle ear.
