Impact of National Food Security Mission on productivity of paddy in Bhandara of Maharashtra.

摘要

The present study carried out to assess the impact of National Food Security Mission (NFSM) on paddy productivity in Bhandara district was classified as pre NFSM period (2006-07) and post NFSM period (2010-11) with a view to examine change in paddy production with implication of NFSM in the study area. A random sample of 50 paddy growers comprised 35 from small and 15 from medium farms. The primary data (agricultural year 2010-11) viz., area, production of paddy (pre and post NFSM) and assistance received during NFSM were collected with the help of pretested schedule with personal interview of the respondents. Under pre NFSM, there was 98.79 ha area with the production of 2699.04 q and in post NFSM it increased up to 143.34 ha and 5381.22 q, respectively. Productivity of paddy cultivation was also found to be increased from 10.72. to 19.31 q/ha. Changes in area, production and productivity of the sample respondents were found to be increasing due to implementation of NFSM programme. It was concluded that the NFSM programme, would be beneficial in the selected area during the study period. Under NFSM programme, about 90% farmers received improved varieties of seeds of paddy crop, 92% received training & assistance on IPM equally, 88% received assistance on INM and only 66% received the various equipments.
