STEP-DOWN REGRESSION ANALYSIS FOR IMPROVING SEED YIELD IN RELATION TO SEED SIZE IN CHICKPEA

The seed yield being a complex and variable entity is attributed by various traits. Direct selection for yield per se may not be very effective and it is also true that inter dependency of contributing traits may affect the selection criterion. In crop like chickpea not only seed yield but seed size is also equally important in determining the value of the produce. Step-down regression analysis is useful tool for understanding the contribution of various independent variables when considered togetherin explaining the total variability present in the dependent variable.
