Wheat serves as a staple food for about one billion people in as many as 43 countries of the world. Wheat is the most accommodating crop in different cropping systems. However, productivity of wheat genotypes depends highly on prevailing weather conditions. Through crop growth simulation modeling it became possible to simulate a living plant through the mathematical and conceptual relationships that govern its growth in the soil atmosphere continuum. The CERES-Wheat model was used to assess the production potential of wheat in Raipur conditions. Data sets were collected from field experiments conducted at Raipur location for the year 2002-03. The experiment was done for wheat cultivars Kanchan, Bilasa, Arpa and GW-273. The simulated potential yieldof wheat obtained from CERES-Wheat model ranged from 2.30 to 4.54 t ha~(-1) in Kanchan, 2.41 to 3.79 t ha~(-1) in Bilasa, 2.52 to 4.26 t ha~(-1) in Arpa and 2.42 to 3.96 t ha~(-1) in GW-273. The model also estimated the anthesis, biomass and grains per ear.
