Anyone concerned about the future of the Appaloosa horse needed only walk through the pasture-turned-parking-lot at Char-O-Lot Ranch in Myakka City, Florida, on January 14, 2006. Trailers with license plates from as far away as Wisconsin, Indiana, NewJersey, Ohio and Kentucky lined up, waiting to take home some of the 80 show horses consigned to the first Char-O-Lot Ranch Rail Horse Sale. Even weather that turned blustery Saturday morning didn't quiet the buzz around the show barns as buyers mingled with consignors, inspecting bloodlines that included World champions like The Hunter, Zippo Pine Bar, Zippo's Romanstar and DZ Weedo.
