GP receives warning after using patient's notes to invite her to a pub lunch

A GP who accessed a patient's medical records for contact information, then texted her to suggest a "pub lunch," has received a formal warning after a medical practitioners' tribunal concluded that his fitness to practise was not impaired. Richard Dean, 58, was working as a locum GP at the Avenue Surgery in Cirencester when he saw the patient, an aid worker. Dean, who does extensive voluntary work with refugees, obtained her number from her records and contacted her with his own mobile phone. He suggested that they meet, adding that he "would love to know more" about her work.
