Anton Pozniak: first British leader of the global medical response to HIV/AIDS

The consultant physician 'who runs Europe's largest specialist HIV service, at London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, has become the first British president of the International AIDS Society, which represents professionals working in all aspects of the global AIDS response. Anton Pozniak took up the post on 27 July at the close of the 22nd International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam. His two year tenure will culminate in the 23 rd biennial conference, to be held in San Francisco and Oaldand in 2020. "I'm honoured," he tells The BMJ. "It's a wonderful event that brings everybody together, from people working in the laboratory to working in the field, and the science is second to none."
