Australia's FYI outlines high-purity alumina potential

Australia-based mining group FYI Resources has confirmed the potential for its proposed high-purity alumina (HPA) project to produce around 8,000 t/yr over an initial period of 25 years. A definitive feasibility study shows that the project at Western Australia's (WA) Kwinana, south of Perth, can produce HPA at a cash cost of $6,217/t with capital expenditure estimated at $198mn, the company said. The payback period is 3.6 years.
