Supply cuts to support China’s silicon prices

Chinese silicon metal prices are expected to hold firm in the coming week in light of an expected fall in spot availability during south China’s dry season starting from November, according to market participants. Prices have been rising since the end of China’s 1-8 Octo- ber Golden Week holiday, with the domestic range for 5-5-3 grade metal assessed higher at 11,700-11,900 yuan/t ($1,750- 1,780/t) delivered to ports yesterday compared with the 29 September assessment of Yn106,000-10,800/t delivered to ports.
