Metal futures: copper extends losses

Copper fell for a ninth consecutive day as base metal prices on the LME edged lower today, as most global equity markets stabilized after falling sharply in recent days amid ongoing coronavirus concerns. The three-month copper contract fell by 0.4pc to $5,723/t, its lowest level since mid-October and down 10pc since 16 January. In the US, the next most active copper contract on the Comex fell by 1pc to $2.554/lb, marking an 11pc decline since 14 January.
