Al: Japan's 2019 rolled output hits 10-year low

Japan's output of rolled and extruded aluminium products last year posted the lowest level since 2009, as a global economic slowdown took a toll on demand from the manufacturing sector. Production of rolled and extruded aluminium products fell by 5pc from a year earlier to 1.9mn t last year, according to preliminary data released today by industry group the Japan aluminium association. Output fell for a second straight year and was the lowest level since 2009 when the 2008 global financial crisis slashed output to 1.7mn t.
