Tharisa to boost chrome, PGM output in 2021

London and Johannesburg-listed mining firm Tharisa aims to increase production of chrome concentrates and plati- num group metals (PGMs) in the 2021 financial year ending 30 September, after boosting output of both in the past 12 months despite South Africa’s Covid-19 lockdown measures. Tharisa — one of the world’s largest chrome ore produc- ers — is looking to increase its production of chrome concen- trates to 1.45mn-1.55mn t in 2021 from 1.34mn t in the 2020 financial year.
