Automotive demand for Al alloy stabilises: Alumetal

Demand for aluminium alloys from the European automotive industry has stabilised since October after a volatile end to the third quarter, according to Poland-based producer Alumetal, as it highlighted robust demand in the sector. Alumetal's sales fell by 5pc from the previous quarter in the third quarter of this year, due to weaker than expected demand from a European automotive sector hit by a semiconductor shortage that has halted or cut output in most car plants across the continent. The company said sales volumes were affected most in September, when many of its customers cancelled orders. Deliveries to the automotive sector have stabilised since October, although they are still lower than earlier expectations, Alumetal said on November 16 during a presentation of its third-quarter financial results. The company expects that demand from the automotive sector will continue to improve in 2022.
