Australia's magnesium sector makes comeback

Magnesium is making a comeback in Australia, almost 20 years after the mothballing of the Australian Magnesium Corporation and its Stanwell smelter project in Queensland in 2003. Global reliance on China for more than 85pc of supplies, a rise in prices and growing applications for magnesium in the aluminium and battery material sectors have reignited developer and investor interest in magnesium and its downstream applications.
