Rio Tinto cuts bauxite guidance, maintains Al

UK-Australian resources firm Rio Tinto has reduced its bauxite output guidance for this year but has maintained its production guidance for aluminium and alumina. It has cut bauxite guidance to 54mn-55mn t from the lower end of 56mn-59mn t, reflecting equipment reliability issues and operational instability at Asia-Pacific region mines, the firm said in its third quarter and nine months to 30 September production update. It produced 56mn t in 2020.
