Rio Tinto cuts 2021 mined/refined Cu guidance

UK-Australia resources firm Rio Tinto has reduced its 2021 guidance for mined and refined copper and increased its cost guidance. Mined copper output for the year is expected to total around 500,000t, down from previous guidance of the lower end of 500,000-550,000t and remains subject to potential Covid-19 disruptions and risks around mine plan sequencing following geotechnical issues at the wholly-owned Kennecott mine in the US, the firm said in its third-quarter and ninemonth production update. This compares with mined copper output of 528,000t in 2020.
