Sustainable aviation fuel to be available at Munich airport from June

London—Germany’s Munich Airport said sustainable aviation fuel will be available from June 1, provided fuels meet the relevant quality specifications for Jet-A1 aviation fuel. The SAF market remains tiny in comparison with the amount of jet fuel traded globally, and accounts for 0.02% of global jet fuel use, according to estimates by S&P Global Platts. SAF is around four times more expensive than conventional jet fuel. Platts assessed SAF in Northwest Europe at $2,094.817/mt on May 6. By comparison, Northwest European jet fuel cargoes were at $565.25/mt.
