Tacora closes acquisition of Norwegian iron ore mine, processing plant

Pittsburgh—Tacora Resources has completed its acquisition of Sydvaranger Mining AS and its subsidiaries, an iron ore mine and processing plant located in S?r-Varanger, Norway, the company said Jan. 14. The acquisition of Sydvaranger provides Tacora with a 4 million mt/year shovel-ready expansion opportunity and geographical diversification in a tier 1 jurisdiction, the company said. The Norwegian processing plant operated from 1910-1997 and again from 2009-2015, producing high grade iron ore concentrate, with an iron content of 68%, for pelletizing operations, Tacora said.
