Exxon, Porsche to Test Low-Carbon ’eFuels’

Exxon Mobil is teaming up with Porsche to test so-called “eFuels” in the high-stress environment of autoracing to see how vehicles fare running on the next-generation fuels. A successful demonstration could help advance the nascent renewable liquid fuels, which are derived from hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide and can run in conventional internal combustion engines. Exxon says blends incorporating eFuel are expected to reduce vehicle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 85% versus today’s conventional passenger vehicles.
