US Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said her department is conducting outreach with state officials as it reviews the federal oil and gas program,which could provide an avenue for some states to make the case for carveouts from leasing restrictions-like in the gas-rich Delaware play in New Mexico.Haaland,speaking during a virtual House Appropriations hearing last week on Interior's budget priorities,told lawmakers that the department is reaching out”to states and communities”to make sure that stakeholder input is as diverse as possible and”making sure this is done correctly.”
