Demand Set to Fall Again

US natural gas demand will decline for a second straight year thanks to the lingering impact of Covid-19-related lockdowns,while domestic gas production will hold steady,the US Energy Information Administration(EIA)said last week in its Short-Term Energy Outlook. Even so,the EIA projects that Henry Hub spot prices will average $3-14/MMBtu this year,up sharply from 2020's average of $2.03/MMBtu,in part because of the extraordinary prices seen during the deep freeze in February when they averaged $5.35/MMBtu.
