Hydropower generation in the Pacific Northwest could be below average this year,a shortfall that could stimulate demand for gas-fired generation.Near-to below-normal water supply due to drought in the southern half of the Columbia River Basin is responsible for the shortfall,NOAA's Northwest River Forecast Center reports.The northern Columbia River Basin should have near-average water supply.
