First Gen picks BW Gas FSRU for the Philippines’ maiden LNG import project

Filipino power producer First Gen has picked BW Gas as its provider of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), as the firm seeks to secure a supply of LNG to counteract the decline of the Philippines’ domestic gas resources. An industry source speaking to Gas Matters Today said First Gen’s pick of BW comes as the firm pursues a cheap, interim solution to securing a supply of gas for its power plants on the island of Luzon, before pushing ahead with plans to build an onshore LNG terminal.
