China’s emissions market starts slow in effort to build knowledge, acceptance

China has launched its nationwide emissions trading system (ETS), the world’s largest carbon market, as part of the country’s drive to achieve net zero emissions by 2060. The market will cover the power sector only in its initial phase, unlike to other markets that cover all heavy industry. Regulators in China say the market will extend to other sectors by 2025.
