Ongoing outages in Louisiana as a result of Hurricane Ida helped continue to boost the medium sour Mars’ crude price. Mars rose by $2.38/bl week-on-week to a $1.38/bl premium to WTI by 7 September, refecting its highest value relative to the benchmark since January as damage assessment continues at Shell’s West Delta-143 (WD-143) platform ofshore. The key medium sour crude fipped to a premium to secondary light sweet coastal benchmark WTI Houston for the frst time since October 2020, refecting a 54c/bl by the end of trade 7 September, or its highest since 8 September 2020.
