摘要

Worldwide demand for aviation fuel is taking the slow road to recovery amid ongo- ing travel restrictions and the highly variable pace of vaccine rollouts. After a weak frst quarter, jet fuel usage is projected to rise by 650,000 barrels per day or about 14.5% this year to 5.1 million b/d, according to Energy Intelligence estimates based mainly on government data (JFI Nov.9’20). That is still 30% smaller than the 7.3 million b/d peak seen in 2019. Pent-up air travel demand could lead to a burst of fight activity this summer in domestic and some regional markets. Resumption of international travel depends on vaccine passports that reopen borders, which con- centrates much of the rebound in the second half of the year.
