The new Enerpac MITT series mechanical isolation and test tools provide a safe and efficient method for inline pipe isolation and localized pressure testing of new welds during petrochemical plant pipe maintenance. By eliminating the need for traditional chemical cleaning and system hydrotesting, the MITT series tools streamline the implementation and testing of pipe modifications, significantly reducing plant downtime (FIG. 3). The traditional method of oil and gas pipe modification involves extensive flushing, chemical cleaning and drying followed by time-consuming filling, pressurizing and hydrotesting of full pipe runs to protect against flammable vapors when welding onto pipe. The MITT tools make traditional chemical cleaning and system hydrotesting methods for piping modifications obsolete.
