Viburnums are a staple of garden centre shrub sales and public and private landscaping. Flowers, fruits and fragrance, as well as foliage in the form of autumn leaf colour and evergreen effect, bringus a wide range of valuable plants and, with about 200 species growing wild across three continents, there is plenty of scope for hybridisation.This is evident in a new hybrid now making its mark in North America and set to be released in Europe next spring.
