Demand in Europe's largest gas markets has yet to recover from the double whammy caused by a mild winter and coronavirus lock-downs earlier this year.Some of the continent's major economies have seen consumption shrink by as much as 10% compared with 2019,showing just how big an impact the lockdowns had on residential and industrial demand (WGI Aug.5'20).Some economic recovery was reported over the summer as restrictions were eased.But with a second wave of the coronavirus now spreading across Europe,consumption may not pick up in the normally high-de-mand winter months.News that several candidates for an effective vaccine have emerged has sparked some optimism about demand recovery,but none is expected to be widely available this year.
