摘要

The machining of high strength materials in an environment-friendly way always remained a challenge and researchers are striving to overcome these challenges. The focus of this study is to examine the tribological performance of Nanofluid Minimum Quantity Lubrication (NFMQL) technique using vegetable oil as the base oil in the grinding of Inconel-718 alloy with an aim to develop environment-friendly machining. Grinding performance was evaluated in terms of G-ratio, grinding energy, surface temperature and roughness. Experiment results indicated that vegetable oil based NFMQL technique enhanced the grinding performance of Inconel 718 alloy in terms of surface roughness, grinding energy and G-ratio due to its ability to form a thin stable lubrication film at the tool-workpiece interface.
