Call to consider free public transport in Ireland

Introduction of free public transport services should be considered to help create the modal shift needed to decarbonise travel, a parliamentary committee in the Republic of Ireland has urged the country's Government. The Joint Committee on Environment & Climate Action called on Ministers to consider the benefits and feasibility of making public transport free, which it said should be costed as an option to encourage greater mass transit uptake.
