Concerted efforts to make central London locations more pleasant for pedestrians were made 25 years ago with the World Squares for All programme that led to a redesign of Trafalgar Square. Several key members of the team reflect here on that scheme and its legacy. 'Before it was the domain of pigeons and now it's the domain of human beings," reflects architect Spencer de Grey of Foster & Partners, whose drawings helped to redefine how people interact with and enjoy Trafalgar Square today.
