Genesis Energy Buys Wyoming Trona Business from Tronox

Monetising the Alkali business was always going to be a key component in financing the acquisition of the Cristal assets. On 2 August 2017, Tronox announced that it had signed an agreement with Genesis Energy LP (headquartered in Houston, TX) whereby Genesis would buy the Alkali business. One month later, the transaction was completed, with Genesis Energy paying Tronox $US 1.219 billion cash plus the transfer of about $US 106 million of non-cash net working capital.
