Here are a few suggestions that could help you gain an advantage over your competitors: 1. Do something your competition isn't doing (innovation); 2. Do things better/faster/cheaper/more reliably than your competition (superiority); 3. Work harder and longer (brute force). Most firms posture about the first, promise the second, but focus their efforts on the third task, believing that more "feet on the street" and "working harder" or perhaps "working smarter," will win the day for them - a typical sales-oriented approach to growth. Of course, this cannot work in aggregate if the goal is to increase assets under management; that would be another case of "Lake Wobegon Syndrome" where "all the children are above average."
