BHP awards first LNG bunker supply agreement to Shell to fuel 5 bulk carriers

BHP has an LNG bunkering deal with Shell that will facilitate the movement of five LNGfueled Newcastlemax bulk carriers between Western Australia and China from 2022, the companies said in a joint statement Dec. 1. "The LNG bunkering contract will enable BHP to manage fuel supply risk, build LNG operational capability internally, and also help to strengthen the emerging LNG bunkering market in the region," BHP chief commercial officer Vandita Pant said in a statement.
