Paint Leads the Way

The Transportation and Stormwater Department in Tampa, Florida, recently partnered with researchers at The Ohio State University, Mississippi Valley University and Western Michigan University to develop smart paint for the city's crosswalks to help visually impaired pedestrians be safer when crossing the street. The paint includes sensors that can communicate with receivers in a pedestrian's cane and transmit walking instructions tc earbuds the pedestrian wears.
