EFFICACY OF MONOCROTOPHOS AND DIMETHOATE AGAINST POPLAR SHOOT BORER EUCOSMA GLACIATA MEYRICK (LEPIDOPTERA: EUCOSMIDAE)

Three concentrations (0.015, 0.030 and 0.045%) of monocrotophos and dimethoate were tested against the larvae of Eucosma glaciata in laboratory condition at room temperature. Based on experimental findings 0.030 and 0.045% dimethoate exhibited 86.67 and 100 percent mortality respectively after 72 hrs. Monocrotophos 0.030% and 0.045 % concentration gave 76.67 and 83.33 percent larval mortality respectively after 72 hrs. It is concluded that application of 0.045% dimethoate successfully controlled E. glaciattrin the nurseries and young plantations of Populus ciliata.
