Yield and growth parameters of wheat as influenced by different sources of nutrition.

A field experiment was conducted during the rabi season of 2003-04 in Hisar, Haryana, India, to determine the effects of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of wheat. The treatments comprised recommended dose of N through inorganic source, recommended dose of N through organic source (manures), 75% of the recommended dose of N through inorganic source+25% of the recommended dose of N through organic source+biofertilizer, and inorganic source based on soil test value. The highest values for yield (4468 kg/ha), leaf area index, crop growth rate and relative growth rate were recorded in the treatment with the recommended dose of N through inorganic source. The minimum values were observed in the treatment where the recommended dose of N through organic source was applied.
