摘要

Physician burnout, as documented in national studies, has a prevalence rate exceeding 50% in both physicians in training and practicing physicians. It negatively affects patient care, professionalism, physicians' own care, and safety. Better understanding of the quality and outcomes of approaches to prevent and reduce burnout is necessary to determine effective interventions and to enable further research to fill gaps in the existing literature. A systematic review and meta-analysis was carried out to examine the literature to date on interventions to prevent and reduce physician burnout. Differences between intervention groups in overall burnout, emotional exhaustion score (and high emotional exhaustion), and depersonalization score (and high depersonalization) were the outcomes of this analysis. This meta-analysis used random-effects models to calculate pooled mean differences of these outcomes.
