摘要

Dimethenamid is a new chloroacetarnid herbicide for pre-emergence use in corn and soybean (1,2). It provides control of noxious grasses, but also controls some important dicot weeds and is active against yeilow nutsedge. Dimethenamid is taken up by the developing coleoptiles in germinating grasses and kills susceptible weeds by reducing plant ce!! division and growth. Little is known about the activity on sprouting nutsedge tubers and about the differential behaviour of yellow and purple nutsedge varieties to dimethenamid. This paper describes the response of germinating yellow and purpie nutsedge tubers of different geographical origin ('lines') to selective soil placement of dimethenamid.
