摘要

Women in the postpartum stage are susceptible to increased risk for mood disturbances. The most common psychological postpartum problem is depression, which affects approximately 10%-15% of women and represents a considerable psychological health consequence, presenting as emotional, behavioural, cognitive and interpersonal troubles. As such, early diagnosis and treatment are important. Evidence-based studies identify postpartum affective disorders as postpartum blues, PPD and postpartum psychosis. Increasing self-compassion during pregnancy will reduce depressive symptoms in the postpartum period. The study by Monteiro and colleagues determined that self-compassion is a valuable method that will promote healthy behaviours, supporting and empowering individuals to ask about medical treatment and be able to cope with life challenges.
