Mongolia suspends its exports of coal across its southern border into China until March 15 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus —exports were originally meant to resume on 2 March, according to the country’s National Emergency Commission. The commission said that coal deliveries via the border points of Gashuunsukhait, Shiveekhuren, Bichigt and Bulgan will all be stopped. China imported 33.8Mt of metallurgical coal from Mongolia in 2019, which accounts for slightly more than 45% of the China’s total imports of metallurgical coal.
