Raimondo: As China review continues, Commerce remains 'aggressive'

The Commerce Department is "not joking around" in enforcing trade rules and taking other actions against China even as the White House reviews its overall stance toward Beijing, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on Thursday. During a House Appropriations justice, science and related agencies subcommittee hearing on the Commerce Department's fiscal year 2022 budget request, Raimondo noted that an interagency review of China was "ongoing" but made clear the department was not waiting for its completion in dealing with Chinese trade and economic practices. "We aren't stopping in my department, I can tell you," she said. "We are being aggressive, appropriately so, with enforcement."
