Myanmar disruptions lift Thailand’s April LNG imports

Thailand’s LNG imports hit an all-time high in April, possibly because of a force majeure declaration on production at the ofshore Yetagun gas feld in Myanmar (Burma), cutting pipeline gas supplies to the country. Thailand imported 722,530t of LNG in April from Qatar, Nigeria, Australia, Oman and Malaysia, an 80pc increase from March and a 14.9pc increase from a year earlier. Imports were last higher in April 2020 at 628,814t after Asian spot LNG prices fell to all-time lows because of the impact of Covid-19.
