Ferc approves pipeline expansion for Sabine Pass train 5

US energy regulator Ferc has authorised midstream operator Kinder Morgan to modify an existing pipeline to send more gas to the Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in southwestern Louisiana by 2019. The $151mn Sabine Pass Expansion Project would install 600,000 dekatherms/ day (dth/d), or about 590mn ft3/d (6.1bn m3/yr), of firm north-to-south capacity on the 135-mile (217km) Kinder Morgan Louisiana pipeline. The project is designed to provide additional gas to Sabine Pass when its fifth liquefaction train comes on line in August 2019. The expansion is due to come into service by 1 April 2019.
