Russian oil tankcar lease rates increased to Rbs1,000-1,060/d ($13.39-14.19/d) in July, excluding value-added tax (VAT) — rates had been for static the previous 11 months at Rbs970-1,030/d. Some market participants attribute the rise to a rebound in product ship- ments by rail — up by 8.5pc on the year at 52.4mn t in the second quarter, and down by just 0.4pc against January-June 2020 at 106.6mn t in the frst half of 2021, according to state-owned Russian Railways.
