Vermont has moved a step closer to approving a set of far-reaching chemical restrictions for a variety of consumer products, including first-in-the-nation prohibitions on PFASs in carpets and ski waxes and a potential ban on bisphenols in food packaging. With the state House's vote in favour of the sweeping legislation (S 20) on 5 May, the legislature now only needs to iron out differences with a similar version of the bill the Senate unanimously passed before it can go to the governor's desk.
