Efsa clears two further PET recycling processes for FCM use

European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) experts have given the green light in terms of safety to two further processes based on the 'Starlinger deCON technology' for recycling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) into plastic food contact materials (FCMs). In both cases, the panel on FCMs, enzymes and processing aids (CEP) concluded that the recycled PET obtained "is not considered to be of safety concern", according to papers published in the EFSA Journal.
