Statoil rethinking $15 bil Castberg project

London—Norway’s Statoil said Friday it was actively looking at scaling back the massive Johan Castberg oil field development in the remote Barents Sea, which had previously been estimated to cost around $15 billion complete with pipeline to shore and associated infrastructure. Statoil spokesman Orjan Heradstveit said a smaller project was being considered after disappointing exploration results.
