Gulf Keystone upbeat on Kurdish export payments

Dubai-The UK’s Gulf Keystone Petroleum, operator of one of the largest oil fields in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, said Thursday it is “close to achieving a steady and stable payment cycle” for its export sales, an issue which had dogged the company over the last year. Gulf Keystone, whose principal asset is the Shaikan heavy oil field, has been producing an average of around 37,000 b/d but halted its trucked exports from the field in February after continued delays in payments from the Kurdish authorities, choosing to divert the crude for domestic use instead.
